Grinch or Santa?

I think that it is right do Christmas in the school. First reason I Think is because Christmas is a time of giving and it is never bad to teach students the virtues of giving. Second I think Christmas is good because it can open up many decisions on the heritage of Christmas. Last I would use this to teach the kids about the ways different cultures celebrate different things around Christmas.

American Teacher

     I thought it was a very good movie and kind of an eye opener on how many struggles that teachers have like not being able to buy the supplies they need. I noticed that teachers do not get paid well at all but they still seem to love their jobs so I think it is worth it. If teachers had less students per class or a way where they could have more time to grade papers it would be better for them.

Why Do Students Procrastinate?

I have Difficulty Concentrating Because I would rather be doing more fun things. When I do work I usually do it late because there isn’t a lot of better things to do but then I would fall asleep and not finish my homework.

If I could change education, I would...

If I could change education,  I would Have the students  be able to pick the classes they want. This would let them get a better understanding of the subject that they will need regarding their job. They would still have to take basic core classes but they would focus more on a main subject.

Lesson Planning/ TEKS

TEKS for 8th grade History

There are multiple lessons that I could do for U.S History for example, I could have each student make a timeline or foldable about the Civil War while we study it. To get them to be creative I could have them color it and draw pictures.

Another idea I could do is have them do a skit to act out someone they admire from U.S History such as a former president or a U.S general that they find interesting.

Finally, I could do a lesson over the French and Indian War and have them do a debate of some sort. I would make sure that it was regulated so it wouldn't get out of control with middle schoolers yelling at each other.

My First Week as a Teacher...

I am an intern at North Richland Middle, I teach 8th grade US History with Coach Ashley. I was very excited for the oppurtunity to be able to teach along with Coach Ashley. I want to make the best I can of the time I have at my site school.

      The internet is not a very safe place! By reading this article I have realized that I need to be safer on the computer. I also need to not add people that are random and I do not personally know. We also need to teach kids that the internet is not a safe place.
